Hello everyone,
If you are on this page, it means our initiative caught your attention!!!
We are a group of HEC students committed to run the 42 km Paris marathon on April 14th, 2019.
Why so? Well, other than being totally out of mind, we are supporters of the idea that “with privilege comes responsibility”. We thought that running the marathon as a team and for a cause was a fun and original way of contributing with tangible impacts to an ongoing social activity, and we choose to support the Plan International’s AVENIR project in Cameroon.
HEC is among the best business schools in the world. We know now that we wouldn’t be here if the countries we come from had not provided us with a solid primary education. We have come to recognize that during lower and middle school, children not only start learning reading and writing, get acquainted with maths, history, and geography but also acquire the basic social skills needed for every-day life.
We found in Plan International the perfect partner for an ambitious project and exciting journey. The organization has a holistic approach, working with children and youth, their families, their community and local public services. The AVENIR project aims to provide children with access to quality education and training in Yaoundé II district, in Cameroon, where 57% of girls and 42% of boys do not go to school. By 2020, Plan International seeks, to allow 150 children to gain access to school and 15,000 children to remain in primary school. We have decided to help them!
Just being aware of something that is not right is not enough: action is necessary to promote a change. On April 14th, we will run 42 kilometers to sensitize our friends and families and more about the condition of kids with no access to basic education.
We ask you to help us. Our goal is to raise €5.000, sufficient to sustain more than 100 children for 1 year. Every small donation counts and adds up! Thus, be part of the team and help us reach the finish line!
Alone we will just run a marathon, together we will give a child a very special gift: hope for a better future.
